Local Spots
Raby Castle, Deer Park and Gardens
Quite simply, one of the most impressive Medieval castles in England. The Rising at Raby has seen a multi-million pound development of The Gardens, making Raby the North’s latest lifestyle destination. Enjoy lunch at The Vinery and awe and the castle’s magnificent interiors.

Richmond Town and Castle
A popular spot is the Georgian market town of Richmond, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Explore the impressive intact Norman keep or savor any of the ales from a local brewery – The Bishop Blaize is a favoured of ours for the beer garden alone. Eateries and pubs aplenty, this is a great afternoon out.
Barnard Castle & The Bowes Museum
In the rural market town of Barnard Castle with its antique stores and local eateries lies two sights worth taking in. Firstly, the castle, dating from the 12th Century. And secondly, The Bowes Museum – a palatial French chateau sitting oddly at one with the Teesdale landscape – this is one you have to see! The Bowes’ signature piece is the 18th century mechanical Silver Swan, playing daily at 2pm.

This World Heritage Site should need no introduction. An awe-inspiring location with an equally as impressive history, Fountains is a landscape full of secrets, curiosities and breathtaking views. A National Trust site, dog friendly.

The Field
The Field is a two acre space with magnificent vistas of the surrounding North Yorkshire countryside and beyond. Views up here stretch as far east as the Cleveland Hills and westwards over to The Pennines.
A picturesque woodland path winds its way up out of the quarry and away from the cabins, dotted with bench seating en route. Pause and soak in the scenery with a cup of tea in the morning, or with a glass in the evening as the light fades.
For your four-legged companion, The Field is a great place for them to stretch their legs and explore. Take a seat and watch them bound through the grass runs.
Whether it’s capturing the stunning panorama, watching the clouds roll by, or simply enjoying moments with the pooch, The Field is enjoyable for all.
